MONTH OF LOVE

We are all shocked on the series of events happened last month, January. First, the wildfire forest in Australia that experts feared that 500-year Indigenous Rock Art in New South Wales according to Art Net News. After that the war between United States of America and Iraq, then the Taal Volcano Eruption that affected citizens of Batangas and Cavite. The helicopter crash in California that killed 9 people including the NBA Legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant. *Mamba Mentality lives forever* And the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

And this being the month that we celebrate Valentine’s Day, it seems more than fitting. So, where did this tradition come from? Well, there are a few things you can find online, some being quite dark and not so loving, but this was that I found most interesting.

The holiday has origins in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, held in mid-February. The festival, which celebrated the coming of spring, included fertility rites and the pairing off women with men by lottery. At the end of the 5th century, Pope Gelasius the first, replaced Lupercalia with St. Valentine’s Day.

This holiday has obviously evolved over the years to what we know now, the celebration of love by means of romantic gestures, no lottery. And don’t forget to celebrate Valentine’s Day here at Acienda Designer Outlet as we have romantic instagrammable spots for couples and for SMVs, Samahan ng Malalamig ang Valentines.
