Score Branded Bargains At This New Designer Outlet in Cavite

Silang, Cavite may not be the first place you think of when you want to buy new threads or kicks, but that was before the opening of the Acienda Designer Outlet, a sprawling 20-hectare shopping complex that houses designer brands at a big discount.

According to Cathay Land Inc. President Jeffrey Ng, who developed the project, they have mandated a minimum 30% discount from all their stores, with other discounts going as high as 80%. As of its inauguration and soft opening yesterday, October 26, we spotted long lines at Nike, Levi’s, Guess, The Rail, and Vans, where shoppers were taking advantage of the deep discounts. (A dri-fit shirt at Nike, for example, was going for about P780. Baller shoes were at a thousand bucks less.)

There are not a lot of shops that were open yet, but included in the lineup are Archive, Geox, Reef, Sunglass Haven, 158 Designer’s Boulevard of the SSI Group, Oakley, Just Jewels, Mango, Mossimo, and Kid’s Depot. For footwear brands coming in aside from those mentioned above are Florsheim and Naturalizer from RSI, Asics, Onitsuka Tiger, Converse, Mizuno, and Skechers. Most are said to be open by this November.

Jayden Lewis, Head of Leasing for Asia of Freeport Retail which partnered with Cathay Land for the project, describes it as a novel shopping concept because it not only brings together all the brands like the depots that we are used to, but has also been master-planned to give it a fun-day-out feel. It has cool backdrops for the ‘gram, like a three-story Dutch windmill, replicas of the Eiffel Tower and the Leaning tower of Pisa, and vintage telephone booths inspired by London. The open spaces are wide enough for kids to run around in, by the way.

At the moment, only the food stalls are open, but restaurants that will offer a Korean, Chinese, and Filipino-Spanish cuisine are coming up, along with a farmer’s market for organic produce. They drew in more than a thousand visitors on opening day and expect that it will be the same numbers throughout the holiday shopping season.
